P3700 VMware vSAN Hybrid

$

I have a couple hundred P3700 1600G drives in a VMware vSAN Hybrid configuration that are at firmware 8DV101H0, which is only certified for all-flash configurations. Do you have a mechanism to roll the firmware back to 8DV101F0 where it is certified in a hybrid configuration? Is there currently a plan in the works to certify a newer firmware/driver for a Hybrid vSAN configuration?

I've already tried the DCT and it doesn't appear to have an option to do anything but upgrade the firmware - older version say its already updated and force doesn't change that behavior.

Thanks - Ethan

Optane SSD 900P - Copy over old C: Drive?

Does the Optane SSD 900P come with software to clone / migrate old C: drive to this new drive? Or do I just restore Windows 10 backup to this drive?

optane accelerator disable failure, pc no longer boots

I tried to disable my 32Gb optane accelerator on my Aurora r6 and left the RST window running during the first step because it was taking a while to complete. I returned to find that the computer was in the bios screen. I trued to reboot my pc into Windows 10, and it will not boot and always goes to the repair menu. I tried the automatic repair which couldn't find anything to fix. I ran a chkdsk on the X drive which found problems in the uppercase table. I tried to run chkdsk again with the fix option, but I receive an error that the disk (X:) is write protected. I tried running chkdsk X: /f /r /x, but that comes up with the write protect message. I do not know why the the "disable" did not work and I am not sure what to do at this point. I looked over the Optane Memory user manual and installation guide and it doesn't even tell you what to do once the accelerator is successfully disabled.

My main intention was to upgrade the Aurora to an SSD instead of the optane accelerated HDD and I was guessing that I needed to disable the accelerator to do this before I cloned the OS since I couldn't find any information on exactly what to do. So now I have a bricked pc and no good plan on how to recover. Anyone else ran into this problem or have any ideas what to try next?

A few extra notes, in Bios, I can see the drive as a 29Gb M.2 drive, but I have no extra features that I can see that are directly related to this drive. No menus whatsoever that are RST related. I also see that the disk controller is configured as RAID and not AHCI.

Raid 0 over PCIE SSD

I was curious to know if it is possible to stripe multiple Intel SSD DC P4500/4600 drives (HHHL not the 2.5" drives) into a RAID 0.  I am fairly confident I can use Microsoft Raid (server 2008 or better) to stripe them but I would like to avoid that.  Is there a tool in the Intel config bundle to stripe the drop in SSD cards?

Why would I want to do that? It's a dumb story but I am thinking this strategy would mitigate downtime on our large application until we build a better solution.

Thanks in advance your thoughts!

Power / SATA connection affecting data retention on SSD?

$

Hi,

I´m using an Intel SSD 535 for security backup. Backup is done fairly regular and the SSD is totally disconnected in between. As a backup SSD I want it (data) connected only during the actual backup sequences. Sometimes when it is time for security backup there is no new data in a certain data category, so a backup seems unnecessary. On the other hand I have to consider the issue of data retention.

What about leaving the SSD with the power plug connected and the SATA plug disconnected? It would decrease the amount of manual labor, but how would it affect data retention, compared to the alternative to completely disconnect the SSD? Where in the interval ("nothing at all" — "to the same level as with the SATA plug connected") is the expected affect?

Can the Intel Optane 900p 480GB PCIe SSD fit and work in a PCIe x1 slot? I'm assuming it will ruin the performance (like 25%?) if it would work?

Intel SSD 520 180GB: Huge Power-Off_Retract_Count: risky?

There are quite some threads on this forum about the Power-Off_Retract_Count like https://communities.intel.com/thread/55642

or

https://communities.intel.com/thread/27813http://

Unfortunately I don't have any warranty; every time I shut down Windows 10, it counts: the proper RST driver for my sandy bridge qm67 is installed, lpm is inactive (HP 2560p with i7 2620m). I have also tested the ssd in a DVD sata caddy in the 2560p

Any hints?
I have installed debian stretch as well: the smart value is rising  as well, that's why I can exclude a software/driver issue. Even tested with a second computer (Asus dual core): exactly the same situation. I have also tested the sata driver from windows 10: same situation.

Hello,

I have recently bought an Intel SSD Pro 6000p 512GB M.2 for use as a Windows 10 Enterprise Bitlocker hardware encrypted System drive. First of all I have updated the SSD to the latest Firmware PFS121P. Then I wanted to use the SSD Pro Administrator Tool 2.0.2 to enable eDrive like it is documented for the Pro 2500. But since the Tool showed "eDrive Support: False" I did a PSID Revert but that didn´t help. Also trying to enable  eDrive Support anyway resulted in the Message "Error: Configuration Update failed". I have attached a Snapshot of the error.IMG_20180211_151137.jpg

I have a Lenovo y700-15isk with a Sata SSD and a M.2 Intel 600p. I used the 600p as my primary disk in wich I had Windows 10, but for some work stuff i needed Windows 7 so I tried to install it from a bootable usb and it didn't install, but the problem is that after that attempt my bios stop recognize my ssd, my Windows 10 SO was deleted and when I tried to install Windows 7 again it didn't show me the disk as an option. I tried to install Windows 10 again and in the installation options it did appear the Intel 600p but i couldn't install the SO because a problema saying that i couldn't install any OS because the bios wasn't compatible. I tried everything and i can't install any OS

Intel SSD 540s Series - High NAND Writes

$

Greetings,

I am new to the Intel forums, with that, hello all! Apologies if this has been addressed, to start with.

I had recently taken ownership of support of a Synology RS3617RPxs NAS solution. The system is configured with two Intel SSD 540s Series 1 Tb drives. The drives are used as system cache.

Recently, I had reviewed the health on the system, as an alarm was activated. I found that one of the disks had a wear counter of 1. I had pulled it to replace it and then run a utility to review the reads/writes.

I found the total host writes at 38539GB and NAND writes at 1064316GB. It struck me as odd to have this much disparity between the two. I have spent the better part of an hour on the forums reading about other instances where the NAND writes were drastically out of proportion to host writes. My question would be, would this be a case for RMA?

Thank you in advance...

I have a Intel SSD Pro 5400s Series 512GB drive.

the Intel Solid-State Drive Toolbox sees the drive, but does not see any partitions.

The SMART Details are all green except for 1.

SMART ID B8 is red

Raw = 16777215

Normalized = 0

Threshold = 90

Under action it says to contact local Intel Rep.

The firmware update tool indicates that the firmware is up to date.

Any idea how to access data on drive?

Dear,

We have installed dozens of DC S4500 SSD in our servers.  Several of them triggers smart attributes alert after warm up stress test.

Here is the output from Intel Datacenter tool of linux:

$> sudo isdct show -smart --intelssd 2

**********Some lines are skipped*************

- C5 -

Action : Pass

Description : Pending Sector Count

ID : C5

Normalized : 100

Raw : 12

Status : 18

Threshold : 0

Worst : 100

Does raw value of smart attribute C5 indicate healthy problem of SSD?  Is so, is file system resides on those SSDs are corrupted when these sectors are hit?

Thanks a lot!

Optane 900p - Controller Busy Time

Admins, Tech's, I've Owned the 480GB version of the 900p Optane PCIe AIC SSD for about a week and have noticed the "Controller Busy Time" in the S.M.A.R.T details has increased from 0 to 2. Yesterday this value was at 1.

Is this something I need to be concerned about?

DC P4500 Wrong IOPS Numbers?

$

Hello,

We have purchased 42 Intel DC P4500 4TB NVME drives from a vendor ( Sn : SSDPE2KX040T7) . Before making the purchase we have calculated our Read/Write IOPS requirements and have checked your website about the specs of this drive. I am pretty sure that write IOPS for this drive was 62000 IOPS which is enough for our needs and we have made the purchase last week ( havent received the drives yet) . Yesterday I have checked the specs page again and see that write IOPS has been changed and lowered to 48000 IOPS!! May I ask what is going on here? 62k iops is enough for my workload but 48k iops is not.

You have given wrong numbers on this drives specs and i am having big trouble in here.

Please guide me how to proceed with this purchase. Can i return these drives and change into more write intensive drive like P4510 ??

The web page we have checked was :

Intel® SSD DC P4500 Series (4.0TB, 2.5in PCIe 3.1 x4, 3D1, TLC)

And here is the August version of that web site:

And here is the old anandtech article shows the write iops of the drive to 62000 iops.

Good evening!

During the download from m.2 via the PCI-Express adapter, several disks and the drive are not detected from time to time (Pic 1),2.BMP

I looked in AIDA64 and found that it (Bus 0, Device 31, Function 2 Intel Patsburg PCH - SATA AHCI 6-Port Controller [C-1]) (Pic 2).3.PNG

Checking the drivers says that everything is fine, but apparently something is not going right at boot time. Can I do something about it, maybe I have a more recent driver or firmware for it? I know that this platform is outdated, but X79Extreme9 works quite well. Maybe it does not always have time to load? Maybe it can be set up somehow?

I use 512 GB for downloading SM961 (Pic 3).

1.BMP

And I have one more question - why the download time is not shown in the task manager? Does this work only for SATA SSDs? Or does it depend on the equipment?
